Hotel Video Production: Choose the Right Films for Your Property

Quiet hotel room with a balcony and soft evening light

A hotel does not need to put every room and facility into one film. Different videos can answer different guest questions: what the property feels like, how room categories differ or what to expect on arrival. Choose the purpose and distribution of each asset before planning the shoot.

Use an overview to introduce the property

An overview connects the setting, representative rooms and facilities relevant to the intended guest. It should communicate a coherent experience without suggesting that every amenity shown is included in every booking.

Choose an audience, such as couples, families or business travellers, based on the property’s actual offer. Avoid a generic list of luxury claims. Show the features that support the experience and label exceptions where necessary.

Use room tours to answer comparison questions

A room tour can clarify layout, storage, bathroom arrangement, workspace and the relationship to a balcony. Identify the exact room category. Do not present a premium view as representative of all rooms.

Keep photos and written room specifications alongside the video. Guests should be able to revisit practical details without watching the full film. Recheck the asset when furnishing, facilities or category names change.

Use short clips for one clear subject

A breakfast sequence, arrival explanation or pool-area introduction can work as a focused social clip. Each should make sense on its own and lead to relevant current information.

Plan framing and captions for the intended placement. A horizontal overview may not crop well into every vertical edit. Decide which versions are important before filming instead of assuming all formats can be created from one composition.

Check distribution before delivery

Your website, social channels, sales presentations and booking platforms may accept different assets. Check the current upload options and specifications in each platform account; do not assume every booking service supports the same video placements.

Agree on file formats, dimensions, captions, language and usage rights. For website placement, coordinate with the person managing the page so the video has useful context and does not obstruct room information or booking actions.

Measure whether guests understand the offer

Track relevant room-page visits, booking actions and enquiry questions where your analytics setup allows. Ask the reservation team which uncertainties remain after guests have watched.

Compare equivalent periods and note changes in availability, campaigns, seasonality and the offer. Video cannot guarantee a booking uplift. Use feedback to decide whether the next asset should explain a room difference, access or another practical detail.

Frequently asked questions

Should one hotel film cover every room category?

Not necessarily. An overview can introduce the property, while labelled room tours explain meaningful differences. Choose coverage around guest questions and marketing priorities.

Does every booking platform accept hotel videos?

Do not assume so. Check the current options and specifications in each platform account before including that placement in the production brief.
